Sonos Ace Ultra Debuts with Enhanced Sound and Connectivity Features
Sonos has launched its latest headphones, the Sonos Ace Ultra, which are now available for pre-order at a price of $449. This new model is designed to provide superior audio quality while also offering enhanced connectivity options compared to its predecessor, the Sonos Ace, which was priced at $399 at launch.
Although the design of the Sonos Ace Ultra remains largely similar to that of the previous model, the new headphones are slightly heavier, weighing 322 grams. One notable improvement is the increase in battery life, which has gone from 30 hours to 35 hours with active noise cancellation (ANC) activated. This upgrade is expected to make the headphones more effective in cancelling ambient noise, now utilising ten microphones compared to the eight found in the older version.
The Sonos Ace Ultra features a replaceable battery, which can be replaced using a special kit provided by the company. In terms of connectivity, it comes equipped with the new Headphone Engine 2, enabling a more stable connection to Sonos speakers. Users can stream audio wirelessly from speakers to the Sonos Ace Ultra with the press of a button, allowing functionalities such as streaming sound from a television directly to the headphones.
The headphones also support Wi-Fi streaming at home and come with a 3.5 mm headphone jack as well as Bluetooth 6.0 capabilities, which support various audio codecs including SBC, AAC, and Qualcomm aptX. Additional features include an advanced 8-band equaliser, support for lossless audio, and 3D audio, which promise to enhance the listening experience further.
The internal 40-millimetre dynamic drivers have been redesigned in this model to deliver improved sound fidelity. The Sonos Ace Ultra also includes a multifunction button for music playback and volume control, along with wear detection technology that optimises user experience.
The headphones are available in four colour options: white, blue, beige, and black. Shipping for pre-orders is anticipated to commence on September 29, offering customers an option that combines state-of-the-art technology with a competitive price point in the market of high-quality headphones.
