Smriti Mandhana's Brother Addresses Wedding Date Speculation
Speculation regarding the wedding of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and musician Palaash Muchhal intensified this week as reports emerged suggesting that the couple had rescheduled their wedding for December 7. In response to the growing buzz, Shravan Mandhana, Smriti's brother, spoke out to dispel the claims, stating, "I have no idea about these rumours. As of now, it (the wedding) is still postponed," as reported by Hindustan Times.
The original wedding ceremony was planned for November 23 in Sangli but was abruptly halted due to a medical emergency involving Smriti's father, Shrinivas Mandhana. He was admitted to the hospital on the morning of the wedding, leading to the cancellation of the celebrations.
In a related incident, Palaash Muchhal was also hospitalised due to extreme stress resulting from the situation. His mother reported that he required intravenous support and underwent various medical tests before being discharged from the facility.
The absence of immediate communication from both families allowed speculation to flourish on social media. Allegations of infidelity emerged after purported screenshots of private conversations circulated online. Many users speculated that relationship issues, in addition to the health crisis, might have contributed to the wedding's postponement. This speculation was further fuelled when many noticed that Smriti had removed her engagement posts, including a proposal video, from her social media accounts.
Two choreographers, Nandika Dwivedi and Gulnaaz Khan, were also drawn into the controversy. They publicly denied any involvement in the situation, labelling the accusations as unfounded and damaging, and urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation about personal matters.
As the online chatter continued, Palaash's mother, Amita Muchhal, made an emotional appeal for understanding. She clarified that the postponement was a decision made out of respect for Smriti's father's health and that Palaash had suggested delaying the ceremony even before the Mandhana family officially made the decision. She reassured fans that the wedding would take place in the future.
Despite the swirling rumours, neither Smriti Mandhana nor Palaash Muchhal has addressed the allegations of infidelity directly. The only sign of their joint response has been the addition of an evil-eye emoji to their Instagram bios, which many followers interpreted as a subtle indication of their awareness of the negative commentary surrounding them.
