Shriya Saran Addresses AI Abuse Amidst Growing Concerns in Bollywood
Shriya Saran speaks out on AI-generated abuse affecting women, following the shocking circulation of a morphed video of actress Janhvi Kapoor.

In recent discussions surrounding digital privacy, Bollywood actress Shriya Saran has voiced her concerns regarding the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) to create morphed images of women. This dialogue gained momentum following the circulation of an AI-manipulated video featuring fellow actress Janhvi Kapoor. The video depicted Kapoor in a sexually explicit context, sparking outrage among audiences and industry peers alike.

Shriya Saran, who has faced similar situations with her own altered images appearing online, shared her thoughts during an interview with News18. She expressed her frustration about the issue, saying, "It’s funny. Sometimes, I don’t even know if it’s me. They change the size of your breasts, suddenly the cape that you were wearing is gone or your behind looks bigger. You’ve to take it with a pinch of salt. Having said that, it’s annoying and it’s not right."

The actress went on to highlight the dual nature of technology, acknowledging its potential benefits while cautioning against its misuse. "While AI has a lot to give us and a lot to help us with, there’s also a lot it can change for us. It can lead to things that can be dangerous. I think that applies to every technology. With time, we’ve to either learn to live with it or deal with it," she stated.

The controversy surrounding Janhvi Kapoor's video has led to widespread condemnation across social media platforms. Janhvi herself described the incident as 'deeply violating' and 'bordering on sexual assault'. In her response, she emphasised the broader issue of women often having to navigate their safety and integrity in the digital age.

Prominent figures, including actors Jr NTR and Chiranjeevi, have publicly supported Janhvi, denouncing the criminal misuse of AI technologies. The conversation has prompted renewed scrutiny regarding the protection of individuals, particularly women, from digital harassment in an increasingly tech-driven society.

Shriya Saran is currently promoting her role in 'Drishyam: The Conclusion', recently released to positive reviews. The film has been a significant success at the box office, marking a high point in Ajay Devgn’s career, with earnings exceeding ₹490 crore within just 11 days. Critics noted the film's compelling narrative, which continues to evolve the story of a man desperate to protect his family amid mounting threats.

As discussions about AI and its implications continue, the focus remains on how to safeguard personal identity and integrity in a digital landscape where the lines between reality and manipulation are becoming increasingly blurred.
