Shivaleeka Oberoi Defends Katrina Kaif Against Body-Shaming

Actor Shivaleeka Oberoi has expressed her support for Katrina Kaif, who recently faced negative comments online regarding her appearance following childbirth. Oberoi, known for her role in the film 'Khuda Haafiz', took to social media to address the body-shaming incidents directed at Kaif.

In her Instagram story, Oberoi featured a picture of Kaif and questioned the harsh criticisms surrounding her post-pregnancy body. She stated, "Kya ho gaya hai (What happened)? This is Motherhood!" This remark aimed to highlight the shift in societal expectations placed on new mothers.

Oberoi elaborated on the varied experiences of postpartum recovery, noting that it includes challenges such as bloating, fatigue, and other physical changes that are often overlooked. She remarked, "This is what normal postpartum recovery looks like – the good, the bad, the bloating, the exhaustion, and everything in between."

Calling for a more realistic portrayal of motherhood, she added, "Stop glorifying a version of motherhood that doesn’t exist." Oberoi insisted that judging women's bodies during this vulnerable time is misplaced and damaging. "After seeing multiple such posts in the last few days, I can’t help but think how ridiculous the thought process is!" she stated.

Kaif has been largely absent from public events since welcoming her son Vihaan Kaushal in November 2025 with her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal. She recently made a rare appearance at a prayer meet for filmmaker Kuku Kohli, marking her first public outing since her pregnancy.

Prior to this, Kaif featured in the film 'Merry Christmas', which was released in 2024. As she navigates her role as a new mother, the focus on her physical appearance has met with mixed responses, prompting Oberoi's remarks in defence of her fellow actor.

Such body-shaming incidents spark a broader conversation regarding the unrealistic standards often placed on mothers, urging society to shift towards a more compassionate understanding of the postpartum experience.
