Shah Rukh Khan's Film King Reportedly Budgets Over INR 450 Crore
Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan is nearing the completion of production for his forthcoming action-thriller film, King. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film has generated considerable anticipation among fans eager to learn more about its storyline and features. Recent media reports have suggested that King may become Khan's most opulent project to date. However, Director Siddharth Anand has dismissed these claims as 'false'. The film, marking King Khan's return to cinemas, is reportedly on track to become one of the most lavish productions he has been involved with. As reported by the Free Press Journal, the estimated budget has surpassed INR 450 crore, outstripping that of Khan’s previous films, Jawan and Pathaan. The filming commenced in May 2025, with expectations for completion by August 2026. The production team has already dedicated over 150 days to shooting across various global locations. According to Bollywood Hungama, the film prioritises extensive visual effects and features grand action sequences crafted by globally renowned stunt teams. Reportedly, the visual effects work will be undertaken by Khan's own production company, Red Chillies Entertainment. The budget figure of approximately INR 450 crore does not include Khan’s acting fees or costs for distribution and marketing. A source mentioned, “All the money spent is to ensure an uncompromised cinematic experience for the audience. You will see every penny spent by the makers on the screen, as it’s a new Shah Rukh Khan experience.” Following the surge of media speculation regarding the film's budget, Siddharth Anand addressed the issue on his official social media account, simply stating “False”, without elaborating. However, it is widely interpreted that his comment relates to the aforementioned budget discussions. Co-produced by Gauri Khan, Siddharth Anand, and Mamta Anand, King is set to hit theatres on December 24, 2026. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi, and Rani Mukerji. The soundtrack has been composed by Sachin–Jigar, with Anirudh Ravichander contributing the film score.
