Sennheiser Launches MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 Earbuds with Key Upgrades

Sennheiser has introduced the MOMENTUM True Wireless 5, its latest flagship earbuds, designed to provide a high-performance listening experience. Announced on August 20, 2026, these earbuds are set to debut on September 3, 2026. With a retail price of $449.95 CAD, they will be available in five attractive metallic shades: Graphite, Cream, Copper, Denim, and Lavender.

Reimagined from the ground up, the MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 earbuds incorporate advanced technology and engineering similar to the recently released MOMENTUM 5 Wireless headphones. At the core of these devices is Sennheiser’s signature 7mm TrueResponse dynamic transducer, providing both exceptional sound detail and bass response. Manufactured in Tullamore, Ireland, each transducer guarantees precision and clarity.

The earbuds support Bluetooth 6.0 and the aptX Adaptive codec, ensuring a stable wireless connection and high-resolution audio transmission of up to 24-bit at 96 kHz, including aptX Lossless for optimal playback from compatible devices. An advanced hybrid active noise cancellation (ANC) system has been revised to enhance the auditory experience, complemented by an automatic anti-wind mode. New ear tip designs and a four-microphone array work together to improve noise cancellation effectiveness and provide a natural sound during calls.

For voice capture, the earbuds employ an innovative system that uses six microphones and two bone-conduction voice accelerometers along with an artificial intelligence (AI) speech-extraction algorithm, isolating vocals even in noisy environments. The earbuds are also optimised for immersive Dolby Atmos® sound with head-tracking capability, creating a spatial audio experience that simulates a theatre-like atmosphere.

One distinct feature of the MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 is its eco-conscious approach, incorporating user-replaceable batteries in both the earbuds and the charging case. This design allows users to refresh power cells in just a few minutes, promoting longevity and sustainability over the typical lifespan of standard earbuds. The earbuds provide up to 12 hours of playback on a single charge, with additional power for over 40 hours available via the wireless charging case. An eight-minute charge can extend listening time by one hour.

The ergonomic design of the earbuds has been optimised for comfort. They have a sleek, aerodynamic profile, informed by data from numerous ear models that led to a fin-less shape. In testing, 73% of users found them more comfortable than the previous generation. The earbuds also hold an IP54 rating for dust, sweat, and splash resistance. Wind interference is mitigated by a micro-perforated acoustic microphone plate, enhancing both voice capture and ANC stability.

The charging case has been streamlined, making it more portable and easy to store, featuring a low-friction finish to facilitate smooth access from pockets.
