Samsung Launches Affordable Galaxy Book 6 to Compete with MacBook
Samsung Electronics has officially launched the 'New Galaxy Book 6' in South Korea as of 1 September 2026, aiming to provide a cost-effective option for consumers. This latest device is part of the Galaxy Book 6 series, designed with practicality in mind, offering impressive specifications without placing a heavy financial burden on buyers.
The new laptop is powered by the latest Intel® Core™ Series 3 Processor, ensuring a stable environment for everyday tasks, whether for study or work. Its battery life is notable, claiming to support up to 25 hours of video playback on a single charge. Additionally, the device supports fast charging, providing 33% battery in approximately 30 minutes.
One of the standout features of the Galaxy Book 6 is its 14-inch display, which adopts a 16:10 aspect ratio and incorporates anti-glare technology. This enhances visual clarity by reducing reflections and screen smearing, enabling users to enjoy vivid content.
Weighing in at 1.35 kilograms and measuring 35.6 centimetres, the Galaxy Book 6 is portable, making it suitable for on-the-go use. It comes equipped with various ports, including two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, an HDMI port, and a headphone/microphone jack. This selection allows users to connect to external devices without needing additional adapters.
Incorporating Galaxy AI features, the book includes the 'AI Cut Out' function, which allows for the easy removal of backgrounds from images. Furthermore, it enables real-time translation of web content and facilitates direct access to links discovered during browsing.
The Galaxy Book 6 enhances connectivity within the Galaxy ecosystem, enabling users to share storage between their Galaxy smartphones and the laptop. Features such as drag-and-drop file transfers further streamline the process of working across devices.
Currently, the Galaxy Book 6 is available in one size (35.6 cm) and a grey colour option. Pricing ranges from 1.19 million won to 1.49 million won, depending on specifications such as CPU and operating system. According to Samsung, buyers during the launch promotion period can receive benefits worth up to 180,000 won through purchases made on Samsung.com, aimed at reducing the perceived cost of the device.
A trial programme is also in effect for customers who purchase via Samsung.com until 8 September, offering quick delivery and additional promotional points. The first 300 purchasers will receive a gift certificate worth 30,000 won.
Jung Ho-jin, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics Korea, remarked, "The 'New Galaxy Book 6' expands the Galaxy Book experience to more consumers, offering stable performance, long battery life, and connectivity with a reasonable price tag."
With this launch, Samsung Electronics seeks to provide an attractive option for consumers looking for a budget-friendly laptop that doesn’t compromise on quality or performance, especially as they face increasing competition in the market, notably from products like the Apple MacBook Neo.
