Salman Khan's Outfit Comments to Karisma Kapoor on Film Set
In a recent episode of 'Koffee With Karan', actress Karisma Kapoor shared a memorable anecdote from the set of the 2000 romantic comedy 'Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge', which starred her alongside actor Salman Khan. Kapoor reminisced about the creative tensions between the two, particularly over her choice of attire for a specific scene.
During their conversation, Kapoor disclosed that she was excited about her outfit, aiming to make a bold fashion statement. However, Salman Khan voiced his concerns, stating, "What are you wearing? I will not give a shot with you looking like this." This comment sparked a brief dispute, leading Kapoor to raise her grievances with the film’s director, David Dhawan.
Karan Johar, the host of the show, probed further into the nature of the disagreement. Kapoor acknowledged that Khan's objection stemmed from her outfit appearing "too open and too clingy." The actor had emphasised his protective stance, advising her to change attire before filming. He added, "I used to keep on asking her to get it down before every take. It was all sheer."
Despite the disagreement, Kapoor suggested that Khan’s actions were motivated by a sense of care, highlighting their frequent arguments during the production of the film. "He would say, 'Go and change it, I don't like this outfit.' So we used to fight a lot," she recounted.
'Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge' was a commercially successful film, showcasing the chemistry between Kapoor and Khan. The movie followed the character Raja Oberoi, portrayed by Salman Khan, who falls in love with Sapna, played by Karisma Kapoor. Set against a backdrop of eccentric uncles, the romance is punctuated by comedic elements that contributed to its popularity.
This film is one of many collaborations between the two actors, who starred together in multiple films throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, establishing themselves as a prominent on-screen pair in the Bollywood industry.
