Retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra Appointed CEO of Ram Temple Trust

Retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra, who has a distinguished career spanning over four decades in the Indian Air Force, has been appointed as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. This development marks a significant step in the administration and operations associated with the reconstruction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, a site of immense cultural and religious importance for Hindus.

Mishra expressed gratitude for being given this opportunity and emphasised the importance of teamwork in fulfilling his responsibilities. Speaking to the Hindustan Times, he stated, "I include the time spent in the National Defence Academy. That’s 43 years in uniform. And a few months after I retired, I got this opportunity to serve the Shri Ram Temple and the Ram bhakts. I think there cannot be anybody more fortunate than me."

In his new role, Mishra aims to apply the discipline and managerial skills honed during his military career to develop strategies that align with the trust's objectives. He stated, "I cannot make a strategy on my own. It has to be under the guidance of the Trust and along with my team. My strategy will become infructuous if I do not take the team along or do not take the guidance of the Trust."

The appointment comes at a time when the trust is facing challenges, including previous controversies related to donations. Mishra acknowledged the need to learn from past experiences but was keen to move forward positively, asserting, "We need to learn lessons from the past but do not let the past burden us."

In addition to Mishra's appointment, the trust has inducted three new trustees and elevated Govind Giri as general secretary, indicating a restructuring within the organisation to enhance efficiency in temple management.

Mishra highlighted the key qualities such as discipline, hard work, and integrity that were pivotal during the selection process for his role. He expressed his commitment to the success of the temple's mission, stating, "The success is dependent on so many other factors."

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is responsible for overseeing the construction of the Ram Temple, which has been a focal point of a long-standing dispute in India regarding the site where many believe Lord Ram was born. The temple's construction is seen by many as a culmination of decades of efforts to restore the site to its religious significance.

Mishra's appointment is viewed as a strategic move by the trust to bring in experienced leadership as it embarks on this ambitious and culturally significant project. He reflects the sentiments of many devotees and stakeholders who consider this initiative as not merely a construction effort but as an embodiment of faith and cultural identity.
