Ranveer Singh's New Thriller 'Pralay' Begins Production in Mumbai
Filming for Ranveer Singh's action thriller, 'Pralay,' has started in Mumbai, promising a unique take on survival narratives.

Ranveer Singh's upcoming action thriller, titled 'Pralay,' has officially commenced filming in the bustling city of Mumbai. This project is being produced by a consortium including Birla Studios, True Story Films, and Singh's own production company, Maa Kasam Films. Not only does Singh star in the movie, but he also undertakes a role as a producer. The film is directed by Jai Mehta, who is noted for his previous work, including the acclaimed series 'Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story'.

Singh, one of Bollywood’s leading actors, is known for his versatility and commitment, taking on a physically demanding role in 'Pralay.' This film marks his next venture following the significant successes of 'Dhurandhar' (2025) and its follow-up, 'Dhurandhar – The Revenge' (2026). In addition to Singh, the cast includes Kalyani Priyadarshan, who garnered attention for her performance in 'Lokah Chapter One: Chandra' (2025) and plays a crucial character in 'Pralay.'

The narrative of 'Pralay' revolves around themes of survival amid a catastrophic global event, set within the context of Mumbai. Filming is taking place at various live locations across the city, a strategy the filmmakers believe will enhance the film’s scale and authenticity. The crew comprises both domestic and international talent, aiming to deliver a compelling cinematic experience.

Ananya Birla’s Birla Studios has indicated that the project aligns with Birla’s vision of collaborating with some of the most prominent figures in Indian cinema today. Meanwhile, True Story Films, co-directed by Hansal Mehta and Sahil Saigal, stated that 'Pralay' is consistent with their focus on unconventional storytelling. Hansal Mehta expressed his enthusiasm for the project in a recent interview, stating, 'It’s the kind of film that India hasn’t made yet, the kind of film that India hasn’t seen before.'

'Pralay' shifted into production after an elaborate and technically demanding pre-production phase, highlighting the commitment of the filmmakers to deliver a fresh perspective on action thrillers in Indian cinema.
