Ranabaali Struggles at Box Office with Rs 150 Crore Budget
Ranabaali, a film featuring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, has a reported budget exceeding Rs 150 crore. Sources indicate that the film must achieve approximately Rs 50 crore in box office shares to break even, yet to date, it has garnered around Rs 30 crore, indicating a significant shortfall.
A film distributor highlighted the necessity for additional audience turnout, stating, "The combination of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika was expected to draw crowds, but their popularity alone is not sufficient for the film's financial recovery."
Analysing the revenue sources, it is noted that the non-theatrical rights of the project yielded Rs 70 crore for the production house. This suggests that theatre earnings are essential for recouping the substantial investment made in the film.
However, theatrical collections have reportedly decreased to Rs 3 crore daily, a trend which poses a challenge to the film's recovery efforts. There are conflicting reports regarding the actual production costs; some claim the budget is Rs 120 crore, making it less precarious for producers Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar.
Production decisions were influenced by the confidence instilled by director Rahul Sankrityan, who had anticipated wider appeal across multiple languages. Unfortunately, these expectations have not materialised as hoped. The industry will need to wait for final box office numbers to ascertain whether the film has managed to recover its considerable investment.
