Ramayana Unveils Surprise Gift at SDCC 2026 Trailer Launch

The anticipation surrounding the upcoming film Ramayana, featuring Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, has grown significantly following its presentation at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026. While Indian audiences await the trailer's release, attendees of the Comic-Con event received an unexpected surprise during the preview.

A video showcasing a fan unboxing a unique gift from the Ramayana team has circulated widely on social media. The clip features a woman enthusiastically revealing the contents of a pink box received at the event. She opens the elegantly designed box, adorned with a lotus motif, to unveil a gold-coloured shankha, or conch shell, along with an accompanying note.

Expressing her delight, the fan states, "I love this beautiful box with a lotus on it, and inside this beautiful box is 'The Shankh', otherwise known as a conch shell, which represents 'The call of Dharma.'" The note elaborated on the significance of the conch shell, describing it as a symbol of Indian heritage that harmonises energy and emits a transcending sound, heralding new beginnings.

In her commentary, she marvels at the intricate craftsmanship of the shankha, saying, "Look at the beautiful ornate and just very detailed and fine work on this shankh." The note further conveyed the thematic inspiration behind the gift, stating, "As we prepare to bring our Ramayana to life on Diwali this year, we celebrate the timeless journey and teachings of Lord Rama, which continue to define our values and culture even today."

The launch of the Ramayana trailer in India has faced delays due to ongoing protests among students in the country. On July 24, Namit Malhotra, producer of the film, expressed his sentiments in a statement, acknowledging the global aspirations of the project. "Today is a very special moment for our Ramayana. My dream of taking Ramayana to the world is now a reality with our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. The trailer will be released at a later date," he remarked.

Malhotra highlighted the cultural significance of the film, asserting that it marks a proud moment in over a century of Indian cinema. He stated, "This is special as it opens the door for people of the world to discover the richness of our culture and our stories with renewed pride and enthusiasm." He concluded by thanking the supporters of the project, urging the youth to contribute positively to the future.

The presentation at SDCC confirmed the film's impending release: Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled for theatres during Diwali 2026, while Ramayana: Part 2 is planned for Diwali 2027. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film features a star-studded cast, including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Ravana, and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita. Sunny Deol is cast as Hanuman, while Ravie Dubey portrays Lakshman. Other key roles are filled by Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan.
