Ramayana Film Trailer Launch Combines Spirituality and Cinema

The premiere of Nitesh Tiwari's adaptation of the Ramayana, titled Pratham Sankalp, took place in New Delhi as a unique celebration that melded cinema with spirituality.

Ranbir Kapoor, one of the film's stars, demonstrated his respect for the tradition and the art form through numerous gestures during the event. Dressed in a traditional black bandhgala paired with white trousers, he expressed his regret for wearing sunglasses, attributing it to an eye infection contracted from his daughter, Raha. "On this auspicious occasion, there is only affection in my heart, so please don’t mind," he stated, underscoring the significance of the event.

As the evening's host, Ranbir Kapoor took care to emphasise the reverence associated with the project. The atmosphere was further enriched when Arun Govil, known for his iconic portrayal of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s classic Ramayan, made his entrance. In a moment of admiration, Ranbir bent down to touch Govil’s feet, acknowledging his enduring legacy.

“Sir, you have represented this responsibility for so many years with such beauty, truth and dignity. If I can capture even a fraction of how you embodied Lord Shri Ram, my hard work will have been worthwhile,” he remarked, highlighting the deep connection many feel towards the epic and its characters.

The launch event not only spotlighted the cast but also brought together political leaders, spiritual figures, and poets, emphasising the cultural significance of the Ramayana. By framing the promotion in such a holistic way, the team behind Pratham Sankalp aims to resonate deeply with audiences both spiritually and emotionally, rather than merely presenting a traditional film launch.
