De De Pyaar De 2 Sees Strong Box Office Performance in Opening Weekend
Ajay Devgn's 'De De Pyaar De 2' continues to grow at the box office, surpassing ₹34 crore after three days since its release.

The romantic comedy 'De De Pyaar De 2', featuring prominent actors Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and R Madhavan, debuted in cinemas on Friday, November 14. The film opened with a promising collection of approximately ₹8.75 crore on its first day, which is considered a respectable figure for the genre, particularly in the aftermath of the pandemic.

In addition to the lead trio, the cast includes Jaaved Jaaferi, Meezan Jaaferi, and Gautami Kapoor, contributing to a well-rounded ensemble. According to Box Office India, the film witnessed a significant increase in earnings over its first weekend. On Saturday, the second day, it garnered around ₹12.25 crore, reflecting a growth of approximately 40%. The positive trend continued into Sunday, with an estimated collection of ₹13.75 crore, marking a further increase of about 12.24%.

Thus far, the total box office collection for 'De De Pyaar De 2' stands at ₹34.75 crore. The film’s performance has been notably strong in the Delhi-National Capital Region, although it requires better results in other key markets, particularly in Gujarat and the Central belt of India, to achieve sustained success.

Historically, sequels often face challenges, and 'De De Pyaar De 2' will need to replicate the success of its predecessor, which experienced a significant surge in box office figures after its opening weekend. As noted by industry analysts, such growth is increasingly difficult for films in the current post-pandemic landscape.

The film has also impacted the performance of other recent releases, including 'Thamma', 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat', and 'The Taj Story', which have seen a decline in audience numbers since the arrival of 'De De Pyaar De 2'.

Currently, 'De De Pyaar De 2' ranks fourth among the top films at the box office, trailing behind 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' in first place, followed by 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari' and 'Bad Newz'. The fifth position is occupied by 'Param Sundari'.

Directed by Anshul Sharma, 'De De Pyaar De 2' picks up the narrative where its predecessor concluded. The plot revolves around Ashish (Ajay Devgn), who, after convincing his family about his relationship with the younger Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh), now faces the challenge of winning over her parents, played by R Madhavan and Gautami Kapoor. The film is produced by T-Series Films and Luv Films, continuing the story of complex relationships and familial acceptance that resonated with audiences in the first film.
