A Google Pixel Watch 5 prototype was discovered during a scuba diving expedition near St. Martin, revealing new features ahead of its launch.

A prototype of the Google Pixel Watch 5 has been found at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, raising eyebrows in the tech community. The discovery took place near the Caribbean island of St. Martin during a scuba diving session. Randy Pitchford, co-founder of Gearbox Software, shared the details on his social media platform X, showcasing images of the submerged device.

According to Pitchford, the watch was functional enough to tell the time, even though its main battery was depleted. He noted the unusual circumstance of discovering such a device underwater could be interpreted as a promotional stunt, given the unusual nature of the leak.

The images released show that the Pixel Watch 5 maintains a similar design to its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 4. The back of the device displays several key specifications, including IP68 water resistance, which suggests its internals remained intact despite prolonged exposure to saltwater. Also visible are markings indicating that the watch measures 45mm, consistent with the larger model in the previous line.

Advanced health monitoring features are reflected in the device’s labels, which include heart rate monitoring, pulse detection, skin temperature tracking, and SpO2 sense technology. Furthermore, it is speculated that the Pixel Watch 5 may feature a custom Tensor chipset rather than the previously used Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.

This peculiar find has generated a mix of fascination and scepticism. The Pixel Watch 4 was only launched in October 2025, leading many to question the timing of this prototype's emergence. The product appears nearly ready for market release based on specifications that seem polished and finalised.

While some industry insiders are thrilled about the early peek at the watch’s features, others argue this leak underscores the need for tech companies like Google to reassess their prototype security measures. The sighting of a device recovering from an unexpected dive is unprecedented and has captured worldwide attention.

In conclusion, while the authenticity of the device remains to be confirmed, the Pixel Watch 5 is already generating discussion regarding its features and design—an unusual feat in the technology realm where leaks are often more conventional.
