Prime Minister Modi Reflects on India's 2025 Achievements
NEW DELHI: In a recent episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spotlighted the country's notable achievements over the course of 2025. This was the 129th edition of the series, where he expressed pride in the milestones reached by India in diverse fields.
During his address, Prime Minister Modi remarked, "2025 provided many moments of pride for every Indian. From national security to sports, and from scientific advancements to international recognition, India has made its mark globally."
He emphasised the significance of 'Operation Sindoor', stating that it became a symbol of national pride. Modi highlighted how this operation showcased India's unwavering commitment to its security, with images of love and dedication towards the nation being shared widely across the globe. He also mentioned the 150th anniversary celebration of the patriotic song 'Vande Mataram'.
In the realm of sports, 2025 was a groundbreaking year for India. The men's cricket team clinched the ICC Champions' Trophy, while the women's cricket team made history by winning the World Cup for the first time. Additionally, the women’s blind cricket team triumphed in the T20 World Cup. Indian para-athletes also excelled, securing several medals in world championships, demonstrating that resilience can overcome any challenge.
The Prime Minister also noted significant advancements in science and space exploration, including Shubhanshu Shukla, who became the first Indian to reach the International Space Station. Environmental initiatives and wildlife conservation efforts were also highlighted, with the population of cheetahs in India exceeding 30.
Cultural heritage was another focal point, as Modi discussed the global attention garnered by the Prayagraj Mahakumbh held at the year's start. He spoke of the pride felt by Indians as the flag was hoisted at the newly constructed Ram temple in Ayodhya towards the end of 2025.
On the economic front, he observed a growing enthusiasm for indigenous products, stating that consumers are increasingly choosing goods crafted by Indian artisans. He declared, "2025 has instilled greater self-confidence in Bharat (India)."
The Prime Minister also addressed the youth, mentioning the 'Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue', set to coincide with National Youth Day on January 12, commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. He expressed his eagerness to engage with young leaders during this event.
Highlighting the global Indian diaspora, Modi shared an inspiring initiative from Dubai, where Kannada families established the 'Kannada Pathashaale' to ensure their children remain connected to their language and cultural roots. This initiative has successfully engaged over a thousand children in learning Kannada.
In closing, Modi acknowledged the contributions of freedom fighter Parbati Giri from Odisha, who, at the age of sixteen, joined the Quit India Movement and dedicated her life to social service and the welfare of tribal communities. He also reminded listeners about the responsible use of medicines, particularly the importance of consulting a healthcare professional before taking antibiotics.
