NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi officiated a ceremonial hoisting of the Dharma Dhwaj atop the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on Tuesday, a significant event that he described as a moment when 'the pain of centuries finds rest.' Speaking at the Dharm Dhwaj Arohan Mahotsav, PM Modi highlighted the emotional and historical significance of the occasion, stating, 'Today, the entire India and the world is Ram-may. There is extraordinary satisfaction in the heart of every Ram devotee.' The Prime Minister remarked that the event symbolises the conclusion of a long-standing aspiration for many, referring to it as the completion of a sacred yajna that has endured for 500 years.

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Mohan Bhagwat, Chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. PM Modi emphasised Ayodhya’s role in history, stating, 'Ayodhya is witnessing another epochal event in its history; the entire country and globe are immersed in Ram.' He asserted that the city, which once served as a beacon of righteousness during the Treta Yuga, is now emerging as a model of development in the 21st century.

In his address, PM Modi expressed hope that Ayodhya would again serve as an exemplar for the world, merging its rich spiritual heritage with modern aspirations. 'Ayodhya of the 21st century is giving humanity a new model of development,' he said, envisioning a city where spirituality and modernity coexist harmoniously.

Further, he described the Dharma Dhwaj as a representation of the struggle, devotion, and resurgence of Indian civilisation. 'This flag is resolve, it is success! It is the saga of creation born from struggle,' he stated, highlighting its saffron hue and the symbolism of the Solar Dynasty and the sacred syllable Om inscribed upon it. PM Modi noted that the flag would endure as a symbol of the ideals of Lord Ram for generations to come.

The Prime Minister also pointed out the seven temples built within the Ram Temple complex, dedicated to significant figures from the Ramayana, including Mata Shabari and Maharishi Valmiki. He remarked that the statues of Jatayu and the Gilehri illustrate the importance of every contribution, no matter how small, in achieving major goals.

Calling Ayodhya the city that shaped Lord Ram's journey, PM Modi stated, 'Ayodhya is the sacred land where ideals transform into conduct.' He underscored the notion that the Dharma Dhwaj serves as an inspiration for a society free of discrimination and suffering, promoting peace and happiness.

During the event, Mohan Bhagwat referred to the occasion as a 'significant day for all', paying tribute to those who dedicated their lives to the Ram Mandir movement. He expressed that the flag unfurled at the temple was a symbol of the legacy of Ram Rajya, characterised by justice and prosperity. 'The dhwaj of Ram Rajya is now seated at its shikhar, and we witnessed this happening,' he declared.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath echoed these sentiments, stating that the saffron flag marks the dawn of a 'new era' for India. He expressed gratitude towards PM Modi on behalf of Ram devotees, emphasising that the Ram Temple embodies the faith and dignity of 1.4 billion Indians. 'This flag is proof that the light of Dharma is immortal,' he affirmed.

The Dharma Dhwaj itself is a triangular flag measuring 10 feet by 20 feet, adorned with images of the Sun, the sacred Om, and the Kovidara tree. The flag was hoisted during the auspicious 'Abhijit Muhurat', and has been designed to withstand the challenges of high altitudes on the temple’s summit. Weighing between two and three kilograms, the flag is crafted for durability on the 42-foot pole, representing core values of Sanatan Dharma. The Om symbol signifies eternal spiritual vibration, while the Sun emblem invokes divine energy linked to Lord Rama's lineage. The Kovidara tree represents ancient wisdom and the continuity of sacred traditions, reinforcing the spiritual heritage of Ayodhya and its significance in contemporary India.
