Pakistan Security Forces Eliminate 12 Militants in Balochistan

Pakistani security forces announced the elimination of 12 militants fundamental to Baloch insurgent groups during operations in Kalat district, Balochistan, on Friday. In a separate development, police and paramilitary units successfully repelled an armed assault in Bhag city, resulting in injuries to five individuals.

The Inter-Services Public Relations, the media division of the military, reported that these militants were killed as part of intelligence-led operations conducted earlier in the week. The statement characterized the operation as successful, noting that a police station, an assistant commissioner's office, and a bank were specifically targeted by militants in Bhag.

“During the conduct of the operation, the terrorists' hideout was identified, monitored and busted through prompt surgical action, and 12 terrorists were killed,” stated the military spokesperson.

The military’s statement also indicated that caches of ammunition and improvised explosive devices were destroyed during the incident. A counter-terrorism operation entitled 'Azm-i-Istehkam' is being reiterated as a commitment from security and law enforcement forces to combat foreign-sponsored terrorism within the country.

On the day of the Bhag attack, Shahid Rind, a spokesperson for the Balochistan government, revealed that approximately 40 militants used heavy artillery, including rocket launchers and machine guns, during their offensive. Rind remarked that the militants were unable to seize control of the police station or access weapons due to the determined response from security personnel, which facilitated a gun battle lasting nearly two hours before the assailants retreated.
