Nissan unveils the Gravite MPV, starting at ₹6.65 lakh, aiming to attract budget-conscious families seeking a practical three-row vehicle.

Nissan has officially launched the Gravite in India, marking its entry into the sub-4 metre multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment. The Gravite's introductory price is set at ₹6.65 lakh (ex-showroom), providing an option for families looking for an affordable three-row vehicle without overspending.

The Gravite is positioned as Nissan's second mainstream product following the Nissan Magnite and is aimed directly at the Renault Triber, with which it shares its underlying architecture. However, Nissan has made distinct changes to the Gravite, giving it a more assertive and updated aesthetic. The vehicle features a larger front grille and angular bumpers, contributing to a more aggressive stance while retaining a similar lighting layout to the Triber, albeit with unique daytime running light designs.

On the side, the Gravite maintains a functional and clean profile, adding affordability to its wheels with steel designs featuring stylised covers. Its rear design incorporates a more sculpted bumper, providing a sportier appearance compared to its Renault counterpart.

Inside, the Gravite showcases a dual-tone black and white colour scheme, creating a welcoming and spacious atmosphere. The dashboard layout prioritises functionality and usability, aligning with family-focused requirements. It offers flexibility with removable third-row seats that significantly expand boot space, and the second-row seats are designed to slide and recline for enhanced passenger comfort and luggage adaptability.

At the heart of the dashboard lies an 8-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering wheel, shared with the Nissan Magnite, features gloss black accents, a leatherette wrap, and mounted controls for convenience.

The Gravite, despite its competitive price point, is rich in features. Standard equipment includes rain-sensing wipers, automatic LED headlights with a follow-me-home function, cruise control, and parking sensors both front and rear. Additionally, it incorporates conveniences such as a push-button start system with a smart key and rear air conditioning vents with a roof-mounted blower, essential for cooling across all three rows in Indian climates.

Safety is a significant focus, featuring six airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold assist, anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, tyre pressure monitoring system, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. This comprehensive safety setup enhances the Gravite's value in the entry-level MPV market.

Under the hood, the Gravite is powered by a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 72bhp and 96Nm of peak torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). Notably, there is no turbo-petrol variant available at launch, reinforcing its target audience of budget-conscious families.

Overall, with a starting price of ₹6.65 lakh, the Nissan Gravite emerges as one of India’s most economical three-row vehicles. By blending flexible seating arrangements, essential modern features, and a robust safety profile, Nissan is appealing to families keen on practicality and space at an attractive price point.
