NDA Celebrates Modi as India's Longest-Serving Elected PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognised as the longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister at NDA conclave marking 12 years in office.

In a significant event held on 10 June 2026, in New Delhi, leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) gathered to honour Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking his record-breaking 4,399 days in office. This milestone cements his position as India's longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister since independence.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu initiated a 'resolution of gratitude' during the conclave, praising Modi's leadership, stating, "He is the right leader, at the right time, in the right place." Referring to the 21st century as belonging to Modi, Naidu expressed admiration for Modi’s ability to meet public expectations, which elicited laughter from the Prime Minister.

Naidu described the occasion as a transformational moment, suggesting it marks the inception of a "golden era" for India. He emphasised the NDA's unwavering commitment to the people and their vision for a developed India by the year 2047.

The extensive resolution presented during the event highlighted the NDA government's achievements over the past twelve years. It commended Modi’s approach to governance, which is characterised by delivery, accountability, and integrity, achieved through a merger of community-focused development and participatory democracy.

Modi was described as a unique figure, being the first Prime Minister born after India gained independence and the first not from the Congress party to secure a third consecutive term. The resolution also pointed out the NDA’s broader political footprint, governing states that encompass over three-quarters of India’s population and territory.

The NDA has positioned itself as supportive of Dalit and tribal rights, claiming governance in seven of the ten states with the highest Scheduled Caste populations and in eight of the ten states with the largest Scheduled Tribe communities. This strategic positioning extends to the northeast, where the NDA is predominant.

Significant achievements mentioned included the endorsement of 15 trade agreements with 38 countries, highlighting India's emergence as a favourable destination for investment. Modi’s government was also credited with economic reforms such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and new labour laws, as well as its leadership role in the digital economy.

Additionally, the resolution stated that more than 25 crore Indians had been lifted from multidimensional poverty during Modi's tenure. The governance's approach to counter-terrorism, citing surgical strikes and air raids among other strategies, was also highlighted.

The resolution received support from several party leaders at the meeting, including Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, and comments were made by key figures such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

This conclave not only marks a celebration of Modi's achievements but also positions the NDA as a significant player in the Indian political landscape as it prepares for future challenges.
