In a nail-biting encounter at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Lucknow Super Giants triumphed over the Kolkata Knight Riders by three wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match held on Thursday. Mukul Choudhary, a 21-year-old talent, emerged as the star performer, scoring an impressive 54 runs off just 27 balls, which included seven sixes and two fours.

Kolkata Knight Riders set a competitive total of 181 runs for four wickets while batting first. Several significant contributions came from their batsmen, with Angkrish Raghuvanshi scoring 45 runs off 33 balls, Ajinkya Rahane, the KKR captain, contributing 41 runs from 24 balls, as well as Rovman Powell's unbeaten 39 runs from 24 balls. Cameron Green added a valuable 32 runs off 24 deliveries.

Defending the total, the Lucknow Super Giants struggled early in their innings, but Mukul Choudhary's explosive knock turned the tide in their favour. With a crucial 14 runs needed from the final over, it was Vaibhav Arora who took up the challenge to bowl for KKR. Avesh Khan, who was at the crease, managed to score a single on the first ball, bringing Mukul to face.

In a remarkable display of skill, Mukul hit a six on the second ball, pulling it over square leg for a maximum. Despite a dot ball following, he again cleared the boundary with another six, showcasing his extraordinary wristwork and composure under pressure. After a run-out miss by KKR's Raghuvanshi, LSG managed to clinch the victory with Mukul’s powerful finishing.

The match not only highlighted Mukul Choudhary's potential but also marked KKR's continued struggles in the tournament, leaving them winless after four matches. For the Lucknow Super Giants, their triumph signifies a crucial turning point, bringing them momentum and confidence as the season progresses.

The bowling department of Lucknow saw significant contributions as well, with Digvesh Singh Rathi being noted for his impressive figures of 1 for 25 in his spells. As the IPL season unfolds, both teams will be keenly observed for their performance and adaptability in the remaining matches of this high-stakes tournament.
