Mukesh Khanna Responds to Samay Raina's Jokes in Stand-Up Special
The ongoing dispute between actor Mukesh Khanna and comedian Samay Raina has intensified following the release of Raina's latest stand-up special, "Still Alive." This special debuted on YouTube on Tuesday night, drawing immediate attention for its controversial content. Khanna, known for his iconic role as Shaktimaan, did not mince words in addressing Raina's jokes that mentioned him. On Wednesday, Khanna took to Instagram to express his discontent with Raina's remarks. In a post reminiscent of classic film drama, Khanna compared Raina to a "dog’s tail" that remains stubbornly crooked despite efforts to straighten it. He articulated his displeasure particularly over jokes made in light of the controversy surrounding last year's episode of "India’s Got Latent." Raina’s stand-up featured a humorous apology to Khanna, which included the line "Sorry Shaktimaan," referring to Khanna's earlier critiques. However, this did not sit well with the seasoned actor. In a scathing response, Khanna accused Raina of disrespecting the cherished children's superhero figure that he embodies. He suggested the comedian deserved public humiliation, proposing he should be paraded on a donkey while children hurled eggs and tomatoes at him. Khanna’s full Instagram tirade illustrated his view of Raina as “not a simple, straightforward being,” but rather, someone who is “burnt and cooked in the fire of filth.” He lamented that Raina had faced enough criticism but still opted to provoke further controversy. On a contrasting note, Samay Raina used his special to revisit the fallout from the India's Got Latent incident, where a joke by podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia led to the show's shutdown and legal actions. Raina shared personal reflections on his Kashmiri Pandit heritage and the challenges his family has faced. In a poignant segment, he recounted a touching moment when the elderly parents of a friend urged younger police officers not to take action against them. The emotional layers within Raina's performance were both striking and relatable. "Still Alive" is now available for viewing on YouTube, combining elements of comedy with heartfelt narratives and ongoing societal issues.
