Motorola Launches Signature 27 with Advanced Features
Motorola's new Signature 27 smartphone features a massive battery and high-quality imaging capabilities set to launch in November.

Motorola has officially unveiled the Signature 27, a highly anticipated smartphone that builds on its predecessor with significant improvements. Following its initial announcement in September, the device will be available starting November 16 in various regions including Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Battery and Display Specifications The Signature 27 boasts an impressive 7,000 mAh battery, which is 35% larger than that of the original Signature model. This capacity aims to offer enhanced longevity, catering to users with demanding needs. The smartphone features a 6.78-inch 'Extreme AMOLED Duo' display, which offers a resolution of 1.5K, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 12,000 nits. Motorola claims this display is 34% more energy-efficient than its predecessor.

Processing Power and Memory At the helm of this device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. Users can choose between configurations of 12GB or 16GB of RAM, with storage options of 256GB or 512GB. To manage heat effectively, Motorola has incorporated an advanced cooling system branded as ArcticMesh, which includes thermal gel infused with micro-diamonds and a significantly larger vapor chamber.

Camera Features In terms of imaging, the Signature 27 is equipped with a sophisticated camera system. The main camera features a 50MP sensor powered by Sony's Lytia 910 technology, which includes Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and a wide f/1.6 aperture. Users will also find a 200MP periscope telephoto lens capable of 3x optical zoom and up to 100x 'Super Zoom Pro'. Complementing these is a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus.

A unique addition is the first dedicated Event Vision Sensor (EVS) found in a smartphone. This sensor detects pixel-level changes in light intensity, enhancing the Action Shot feature that captures fast-moving subjects effectively. The rear camera setup can record 8K video at 30 frames per second (fps), alongside 4K video at up to 120fps with Dolby Vision support. For selfies, there is a 50MP front-facing camera which also supports 4K video.

Charging and Build Quality The new handset supports rapid charging with 90W wired and 50W wireless capabilities. It also features reverse wireless and wired charging. Notably, the phone measures 162.01x77.04x7.99mm and weighs 227 grams, making it thicker and heavier than some contemporaries in the market. The body includes an aluminium frame and a robust build consisting of ceramic and glass, reinforced with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3.

The device further meets IP68/IP69 ratings, ensuring its suitability for dust and water exposure, alongside MIL-STD-810H compliance, which confirms its durability in extreme conditions.

Software and Additional Features Running on Android 17, Motorola has promised seven major operating system updates for the Signature 27. Additional software features include support for Google's Gemini Intelligence and Motorola’s own Qira.

Availability and Pricing The Signature 27 will arrive in two distinct colours: Pantone Coal Smoke, featuring a tactical weave finish, and Pantone Capulet Olive, which offers a textile-inspired look. The recommended retail price is set at $1,599 or €1,899, although select markets will see it offered at a discounted price of €1,399. With its combination of cutting-edge technology and user-focused features, the Motorola Signature 27 aims to cater to a wide audience.

This launch signifies Motorola's continued commitment to innovation in the smartphone sector, competing with other high-end devices on the market as consumer preferences evolve.
