The emotional note was accompanied by heart emojis, indicating the deep connection formed during their collaboration.
Sunil Thapa portrayed the character David Khuzou, the respected Chief of the Major Crimes Activity (MCA) from Nagaland in 'The Family Man 3'. Although Thapa had limited screen time, his performance was deemed critical to the series' storyline, making a lasting impact on both the cast and crew. Bajpayee's sentiments were echoed by many in the film industry, who recognised Thapa's talent and ability to leave a significant impression even in minor roles.
Earlier on the same day, fellow actor Priyanka Chopra also took to social media to honour Thapa's memory. Chopra reflected on their relationship, particularly during the filming of 'Mary Kom', and credited Thapa for supporting her through a challenging personal time following the death of her father, Ashok Chopra. Thapa's career spanned over 40 years, featuring important contributions in both Bollywood and Nepali cinema. Renowned for his versatility, he effortlessly transitioned between roles as a mentor and a villain in various films. He also played a pivotal role in promoting the film industry in Nepal, serving as the chairman of Everest Film Academy.
Before entering the film industry, Thapa worked as a model and eventually starred in more than 300 Nepali films, as well as various regional and Hindi productions. One of his notable performances was in the film 'Chino' (1991), where he portrayed the character Rate Kaila, a role that remains memorable in the history of Nepali cinema. Sunil Thapa's passing marks a significant loss for both the Indian and Nepali film industries, as many remember him for his outstanding contributions and performances throughout his extensive career.
