Mahhi Vij Discusses Alimony Decision and Single Motherhood on Bigg Boss 20
Television actor Mahhi Vij recently shared her emotional journey as a single mother during an episode of Bigg Boss 20, particularly addressing her decision not to accept alimony from Jay Bhanushali, her estranged husband. In the episode, Mahhi discussed the difficulties she faces as a single parent while co-parenting their daughter, Tara. The couple announced their separation in January, which has raised questions surrounding their familial responsibilities and financial arrangements.
Tensions escalated during this particular episode when Mahhi, Gullu, and Kanika clashed with fellow contestant Arishfa Khan. Following a dispute surrounding the game dynamics, Arishfa retaliated by throwing water over Mahhi's bed, prompting a fierce exchange of words. During the confrontation, Mahhi made remarks regarding Arishfa's upbringing, leading to a moment of reflection as Arishfa later expressed her emotional distress over the comments made.
In a candid moment, Mahhi explained to fellow contestants Aasif Khan and Yung her feelings toward the situation, stating, “Arishfa is such a liar. I want to speak to her as I talk to my daughter Tara, but she is very disrespectful.” This incident highlights the intense emotional strain that reality television can exert on contestants.
Mahhi Vij articulated her refusal to take financial support from Jay Bhanushali, stating, “I didn’t take a single penny in alimony or even ask for maintenance. I’m here on my merit, only so that my daughter’s life is secured.” She firmly believes in respecting Jay's efforts, noting that he has worked diligently to provide for their family. Despite the pressures from the court, where judges urged her to reconsider her decision on alimony, Mahhi remained resolute, emphasising that she does not want to take what she perceives as his hard-earned money.
Their decision to separate caps off a marriage that began in November 2011 after nearly 14 years together. Mahhi and Jay's joint statement on social media expressing their intention to part ways amicably also stressed their commitment to co-parenting their three children: Tara, born in 2019, along with their foster children, Khushi and Rajveer, welcomed into their family in 2017. This recent revelation comes amid ongoing speculation regarding the reasons behind their split.
Mahhi had previously denied claims purporting that she was seeking ₹5 crore in alimony, advising the public not to believe unsubstantiated reports about their private matters. Life after the announcement of separation seems complicated for Mahhi, who continues to navigate the dual pressures of single motherhood and public scrutiny.
