Maharashtra Man Arrested for Exploiting Over 180 Minors
Authorities in Maharashtra have arrested a man identified as Mohammad Ayaz, also known as Tanveer, for allegedly sexually exploiting 180 minor girls. The arrest occurred in Amravati after a complaint from a Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). According to reports, Ayaz lured the girls into what has been described as a 'love trap' and took them to cities including Mumbai and Pune, where he filmed objectionable videos.
It has been claimed that these videos were used to blackmail the young girls, compelling them into prostitution. A memorandum submitted by Anil Bonde, a Rajya Sabha MP, highlighted the circulation of this footage online and urged the police to take swift action. The memorandum warned of potential protests outside the Superintendent of Police's office should a Special Investigation Team (SIT) not be established.
In light of this shocking situation, members of the Muslim community have approached law enforcement, stressing the need for strict action against Ayaz, emphasising that such incidents should not tarnish their community's image. The accused has a prior association with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen political party, as indicated by visuals on his social media accounts showing him interacting with party figures.
Following his arrest, Ayaz was brought before a court, which has remanded him to seven days of police custody. Officers have seized his mobile phone, which is believed to contain numerous objectionable videos. Investigators are currently working with the Cyber Cell to determine the distribution of these materials, including whether they had been shared with associates or a potential criminal syndicate.
As the investigation continues, the police are expected to uncover more details regarding the scope of the exploitation and the extent of the online circulation of the videos. This case has raised alarms about the increasing threats to minors and the ongoing challenges related to safeguarding children from sexual exploitation.
