KIMS Hospitals Hosts National Workshop on Gait Analysis and Aerobic Testing
Over 100 physiotherapists gather at KIMS Hospitals for a workshop focusing on advanced gait analysis and aerobic testing in celebration of World Physiotherapy Day.

The Department of Rehabilitation at KIMS Hospitals, located in Secunderabad, recently organised a national workshop dedicated to advanced gait analysis and aerobic testing. This event was held in collaboration with the Asian Transcare Rehabilitation Centre to commemorate World Physiotherapy Day. The workshop attracted more than 100 physiotherapists and rehabilitation practitioners from various regions.

The programme aimed to enhance clinical comprehension of human movement science as well as cardiopulmonary evaluation. Dr Sudhindra Vooturi, Director of the Centre for Rehabilitation, noted that the workshop focused on integrating advanced clinical protocols, specifically in musculoskeletal gait analysis and cardiopulmonary functional assessment.

Attendees participated in two technical sessions: the morning session concentrated on assessing aerobic capability, while the afternoon session delved into biomechanics, utilising the hospital's Gait Lab for practical demonstrations. The event also showcased live clinical demonstrations highlighting pathological walking patterns linked to neurological conditions like stroke and Parkinson's disease.

Dr Sunil Reddy (PT), Unit Head of Asian Transcare Rehabilitation, emphasized the significant role of objective biofeedback and reporting systems in enhancing clinical assessment and rehabilitation strategies. He stated that these technologies enable clinicians to progress beyond subjective evaluations, fostering targeted and evidence-based rehabilitation programmes.

Furthermore, Dr B. Bhaskar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of KIMS Group of Hospitals, addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of merging technological advancements with compassionate care in treating patients with intricate neurological, orthopaedic, and cardiac challenges.

This workshop provided vital insights and hands-on experience for physiotherapists and rehabilitation professionals regarding emerging assessment technologies and their applications in patient recovery. The event highlighted a collective commitment to advancing rehabilitation practices through innovation and collaboration in the field of physiotherapy.
