KATSEYE Member Faces Backlash at Paris Fashion Week Appearance
Lara Raj, a member of the South Korean girl group KATSEYE, has encountered significant backlash following her appearance at Paris Fashion Week. On October 2, local time, she attended the Loewe Spring/Summer 2027 show alongside her bandmate Megan Skiendiel. While Megan chose a subtle brown-and-black ensemble, Lara wore a striking canary-yellow dress that contrasted sharply with her partner's outfit.
Despite her bold fashion choice, Lara's posture drew widespread mockery on social media. Critics accused her of trying excessively hard for the cameras, with comments suggesting that her stance appeared unnatural or overly posed. One user remarked, "Why does Lara always stand like that?". This sentiment was echoed by numerous other users who scrutinised her attempts to project a seductive image.
Fans of Lara were quick to express their discontent regarding the harshness of the criticism directed at the young artist. Many found it troubling that such minor details could lead to a torrent of negative commentary. One Twitter user noted, "It's funny how Lara can do nothing and make people mad," indicating a level of sympathy for her plight.
On the positive side, Lara's choice of accessories was noteworthy, as she incorporated traditional Indian elements into her outfit. According to a report by Türkiye Today, she adorned her look with traditional Indian jewellery, including a gemstone bindi and a streak of red sindoor, which holds cultural significance in Hindu traditions.
Lara Raj, who hails from an Indian background, has been vocal about her aspirations in the music industry, expressing a desire to be a role model for young girls of similar heritage. "I never had an Indian pop star that I could look up to in Western music. I always knew that if I wanted that, I have to be that for the little girl inside of me," she stated, highlighting her commitment to celebrating her roots.
Both Lara and Megan attended the show during a brief interval in their ongoing Wildworld tour, which will continue in Miami later this month after concluding its European leg.
As discussions evolve around fashion, cultural representation, and the scrutiny faced by public figures, the incident at Paris Fashion Week continues to prompt conversations about the treatment of artists in the spotlight.
