Katrina Kaif's Fan Page Shuttered Over Silence on Student Protests
A fan page dedicated to Katrina Kaif has closed down, criticising her silence on the CJP protests involving Indian students.

Katrina Kaif, a prominent figure in Bollywood, has faced backlash from a section of her fanbase due to her silence regarding the ongoing protests led by the Coalition for Justice and Peace (CJP). The discontent culminated in the shutdown of a popular fan account with over 70,000 followers on Instagram. The dedicated page, known as 'katholic_fans', announced its closure this Tuesday. The administrator expressed feelings of betrayal, stating they could no longer support an actress who had not voiced her opinion on the protests concerning the NEET exam paper leak.

The fanpage had previously championed Katrina Kaif for years, but the lack of a public statement on the recent protests prompted the decision to disband. The administrator criticising the actress argued that as a public figure, she should actively engage with pressing issues affecting students in New Delhi.

This announcement quickly gained traction on social media, with users reacting in various ways. Some praised the decision, showing support for the admin's stance, while others defended Katrina Kaif’s choice to remain apolitical.

Supporters of the actress argued that every individual, regardless of their status, maintains the right to not publicly address every social or political issue. One user articulated that celebrities, like any other person, should not be pressured into taking a stance on every matter, emphasising their autonomy in decision-making.

As of the latest updates, Katrina Kaif has not issued a public response to the protests or commented on the criticism from her fanbase. The protests have seen several Bollywood personalities, including Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Riteish Deshmukh, Sonu Sood, Sonakshi Sinha, and Prakash Raj, openly expressing their support and calling attention to the concerns raised by students. The ongoing tension reflects a broader dialogue about celebrity engagement in social issues, especially in the politically active climate of India.
