Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday's Film Faces Tough Competition
Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday's new romantic comedy, 'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri', is set to be released in theatres on Christmas Day, 25 December. However, the film is facing significant challenges at the box office due to stiff competition from the successful film 'Dhurandhar', which has continued its strong performance three weeks after its release. Additionally, James Cameron's 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' is also drawing considerable audiences, limiting the visibility and screen availability for Aaryan and Panday's film.
Reports suggest that 'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri' has struggled with advance booking sales, resulting in a disappointing first-day gross of approximately ₹1.81 crore by noon on the eve of its release. The film has sold around 47,000 tickets across 2,713 shows, but its advance collections indicate a challenging start. Including seats that were blocked for advance bookings, the total is estimated to be around ₹2.83 crore.
The film's director, Sameer Sanjay Vidwans, faces an uphill battle as exhibitors continue to favour 'Dhurandhar', which has been earning over ₹16 crore daily in its third week of release. Industry experts anticipate that 'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri' will have a limited opening at the box office, with projections indicating that it may not exceed ₹10 crore in net earnings on its first day.
Despite the Christmas holiday, which typically boosts box office numbers, forecasts suggest that the film will only manage to earn in the range of ₹4-6 crore on its opening day. Most estimates are leaning towards a start around ₹5 crore. This would mark a stark contrast to Kartik Aaryan’s previous films, which have seen stronger openings; for instance, his film 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3' opened at ₹36 crore, while 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2' debuted at ₹14 crore.
'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri' features a cast that includes notable actors such as Neena Gupta, Jackie Shroff, and Aruna Irani, and is produced by Karan Johar and others under the banners of Dharma Productions and Namah Pictures. As the film approaches its release, industry observers will be closely monitoring its performance amid the ongoing competition from both domestic and international films.
