Karnataka Government Reshuffles Several Senior IAS and IPS Officers
The Karnataka government has enacted a series of transfers involving several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. This decision was made official on Sunday, marking a substantial reshuffle aimed at optimising the state's administration.
Notably, Dr Pronab Mohanty, formerly serving as Director General of Police for the Internal Security Division in Bengaluru, has been reassigned as the Director General of Police for the Criminal Investigation Department, including Special Units and Economic Offences. His transfer takes effect immediately.
Dr Chandragupta, an IPS officer with the 2006 batch, is also being moved. He will now lead the Intelligence Department, succeeding Labhu Ram, who has been in the role for just over a month and is currently awaiting a new posting.
Munish Moudgil, a 1998-batch IAS officer and the Special Commissioner for the Greater Bengaluru Authority, will transition to the position of Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister for Programme and Project Implementation. This new role will focus on overseeing high-priority projects, while Moudgil continues his existing duties.
Anjum Parwez, who previously served as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, has been appointed as Additional Chief Secretary for Forest, Ecology, and Environment. Deepa Cholan will be moving from the Urban Development Department to the Transport Department, while Cauvery B.B. will take over her role in the Urban Development sector.
Further changes include Venkatesh M.V., who will now serve as the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, and Selvamani R., who has been designated as Commissioner for Transport and Road Safety. These adjustments reflect the ongoing efforts of the state government to enhance its administrative efficiency and project management capabilities.
This reshuffle follows the recent appointment of D.K. Shivakumar as Chief Minister, with the intent to align state operations towards streamlined governance and effective implementation of development programmes.
