IUML Supports M.K. Stalin's Call for New Tamil Nadu Government
The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has publicly supported the call from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M.K. Stalin, urging the Tamil Nadu Governor to initiate the process for the formation of a new state government. This endorsement comes following the fractured mandate from the state assembly elections held earlier this month.
K.M. Kader Mohideen, the IUML's national president, confirmed that the party has not provided any support to Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), the party led by actor Vijay. In contrast, two left-wing parties have pledged their unconditional support to the TVK, which has recently expanded its coalition.
As of now, the TVK has garnered support from nine additional Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), alongside the backing of five Congress MLAs, two from the Communist Party of India (CPI), and two from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)). The political landscape remains dynamic as various factions seek to establish a governing body amid a split in electoral victories across the region.
This wave of political endorsements highlights ongoing negotiations among parties as they vie for a stable leadership structure in Tamil Nadu, where the assembly elections resulted in no clear winner. The emphasis remains on facilitating a new government to ensure governance continuity following the uncertainty stemming from the recent election results.
