Iran Threatens to Use Advanced Weapons in Potential Conflict
Iran's military warns of deploying more destructive missiles if conflict arises, challenging US claims of ongoing negotiations.

Iranian officials have issued a stark warning regarding the potential for increased military action should a new conflict arise. Brigadier General Mohsen Mohebbi, spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), stated that the country would utilise more potent weaponry compared to previous military engagements.

Mohebbi underscored the advanced nature of Iran’s missile technology, claiming that the warheads now employed are significantly more destructive than those used in earlier conflicts. He asserted that Iran's military capabilities would be 'completely different' across all dimensions if hostilities were to escalate again.

The remarks come amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States. Mohebbi dismissed assertions made by former President Donald Trump regarding alleged backchannel discussions between the US government and IRGC officials. He characterised Trump's claims as 'mental fantasies' that would not influence military realities on the ground.

Furthermore, Mohebbi emphasised that the United States' path forward lies in acknowledging its position of defeat and adhering to conditions stipulated by Iran. The tensions persist as diplomatic relations remain fraught, leaving the prospect of conflict looming.

As tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate, the warnings from Iranian leadership serve as a reminder of the volatile geopolitical landscape in the region.
