India to Organise First SCO Civilisation Dialogue Forum by Year-End
India will host the first Civilisation Dialogue Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) by the end of 2023. This initiative aims to strengthen cultural and civilisational ties among member countries.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced the forum during a meeting held in Tajikistan, where he was attending the SCO Defence Ministers' meeting. The event is expected to provide a platform for discussions on various cultural aspects, promoting mutual understanding and cooperation among countries within the forum.
The SCO, founded in 2001, is a political and economic alliance that includes several countries from Central Asia, as well as China, India, and Russia. The organisation focuses on collaboration in diverse areas such as security, trade, and culture.
Minister Singh underscored the importance of this dialogue forum in fostering deeper connections among member states. He stated, “Cultural exchanges play a pivotal role in enhancing friendship among nations.”
This forthcoming forum underlines India’s commitment to promoting cultural diplomacy and building bridges between nations within the SCO framework. As the host, India aims to elevate its role within the organisation, enhancing its partnerships and cooperation across various sectors.
With the dialogue forum, India seeks to encourage member countries to explore shared cultural heritages and histories, fostering a collaborative spirit. Various sessions and discussions are expected to focus on themes such as heritage preservation, cultural exchanges, and the role of civilisations in modern society.
The formation of the SCO Civilisation Dialogue Forum aligns with India’s broader strategy of building strong diplomatic ties in the region and beyond, reinforcing mutual respect and understanding among diverse cultures. The event is anticipated to draw participants from various sectors including academia, leadership, and cultural institutions, contributing to a rich tapestry of dialogue and exchange.
As the date approaches, further details about the forum’s agenda and participating countries are likely to emerge, promising an engaging platform for cultural dialogue in the coming months.
