India is facilitating dialogue between Russia and Ukraine in efforts to end the ongoing conflict, says External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

India's External Affairs Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, has confirmed that the Indian government is actively engaging with both Moscow and Kyiv to work towards a resolution of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. In a recent statement, Jaishankar emphasised India's commitment to facilitating dialogue between the two nations.

During his remarks, he stated that India is in continuous contact with both sides and believes that constructive dialogue is essential for ending hostilities. He explained that India's foreign policy is centred around peace and stability, highlighting its unique position as a nation that has maintained diplomatic relations with both Russia and Ukraine.

The ongoing conflict, which began in February 2022, has resulted in significant humanitarian and economic challenges for both countries and the wider region. Jaishankar reiterated that India is focused on humanitarian aid as part of its efforts to support those affected by the violence.

"The situation continues to be troubling, and we are committed to playing a constructive role in promoting peace," stated Jaishankar.

India's involvement comes amid growing calls for international support to mediate the crisis. Countries around the world have expressed their hope that diplomatic channels will lead to a peaceful resolution. Jaishankar's assurances have reinforced India's position as a crucial player in the geopolitical landscape concerning the conflict.

As the situation develops, the international community will be watching closely to see how India’s engagements might influence the course of events in Ukraine. With global reactions varying from support for Ukraine to calls for negotiations, India's diplomatic approach may play a pivotal role in shaping future discussions.
