Hyundai Motor India reports record sales in September 2026 with domestic sales rising 10.9%, highlighting strong market performance.

Hyundai Motor India has reported its highest monthly sales ever in September 2026, achieving a total of 77,916 units sold. This figure marks a significant increase compared to previous years and comes as the company continues to experience growth in both domestic and international markets.

The sales figures reveal that Hyundai's combined domestic sales and exports grew by 10.8% year-on-year, surpassing the previous record set in July 2026. Out of the total sales, domestic sales accounted for 57,166 units, while exports contributed 20,750 units. This reflects a substantial rise from the 51,547 units sold domestically in September 2025, showcasing an increase of 5,619 units and translating to a growth rate of 10.90%.

In comparison to August 2026, when domestic sales reached 54,396 units, the September figures indicate a month-on-month increase of 2,770 units, or 5.09%. The consistent growth highlights the company’s robust performance across various timelines.

On the export front, Hyundai shipped 20,750 vehicles in September 2026, compared to 18,800 units during the same month the previous year. This represents an increase of 1,950 units, or approximately 10.37%, which the company rounded to 10.4% in its official announcement.

Cumulatively, Hyundai’s sales rose from 70,347 units in September 2025 to the remarkable 77,916 units recorded this year, adding a total of 7,569 units.

When examining the quarterly performance, Hyundai’s combined sales for the July to September 2026 period reached 219,072 units, a significant rise from the 183,375 units sold in the same quarter of the previous year. This marks a growth of 19.47%, equating to an additional 35,697 vehicles sold. The domestic market was predominantly responsible for this quarterly increase, accounting for 165,772 units, which is a rise from 131,975 units during the same period in 2025. This translates to an increase of 33,797 units, or 25.61%.

Reports indicate that quarterly exports also saw an uptick, with figures moving from 51,400 units last year to 53,300 units this year, reflecting a growth of 3.70%. Overall, domestic operations were pivotal, contributing roughly 95% of the quarterly volume gain.

Tarun Garg, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Motor India, commented on the impressive results, stating that the strong performance underlines the appeal of their vehicle lineup in both domestic and international markets. He further indicated that the record sales in September exceeded those from July and expressed optimism for continued customer interest during the forthcoming festive period.

Additionally, Garg highlighted the initiation of bookings for the upcoming Hyundai Bayon as a strategic development aimed at sustaining this momentum. The Bayon will introduce a fresh nameplate to Hyundai’s offerings in India, further diversifying their market presence.
