Hanuman Ansh Box Office Success Surges Past ₹47 Crore in 24 Days
The devotional film Hanuman Ansh has surprised industry observers with its impressive box office performance in 2026. Initially opening to a modest ₹10 lakh on August 7, the film has experienced a significant turnaround, grossing an estimated ₹47.33 crore in India as of Day 24, according to data from Sacnilk, a trade website. The film's nett collection now stands at approximately ₹40.13 crore.
Hanuman Ansh, based on the life of Neem Karoli Bala, known as Maharaj-Ji among his followers, began slowly, with opening week earnings of just ₹1.08 crore. After two weeks, its collection totalled around ₹1.48 crore. The change in fortunes became apparent during the film's third week, attributed largely to positive word-of-mouth.
By Day 15, the film still only earned ₹15 lakh. However, it began to gain traction, with collections escalating from ₹85 lakh on Day 16 to ₹2.20 crore by Day 17. The momentum continued, leading to a remarkable ₹10.40 crore haul in the third week alone.
The fourth week showcased even greater success, as the film collected ₹6.25 crore on its fourth Friday, followed by ₹9.25 crore on Saturday and an impressive ₹12.75 crore on Sunday. This represents a significant 37.8 per cent increase from the previous day's earnings and highlights the film's remarkable growth trajectory.
Critically, the film’s success serves as a notable example in the industry, as it did not rely on a heavy marketing campaign or star power to attract audiences. Instead, its grassroots outreach, including community events, played a significant role in its appeal. Reports indicate that several theatres began adding more shows due to increasing demand, indicating its organic growth.
Despite its humble beginnings and initial struggles, Hanuman Ansh has shown a remarkable capacity for audience connection, transforming from an underperformer into a sleeper hit. Its reported production budget was around ₹2 crore, meaning it has grossed over twenty times its production cost.
Featuring Shobhinav Satyaa in the lead role of Neem Karoli Baba, with supporting performances from Chandan K Anand, Anil Rastogi, Purnima Tiwari, and Vihaan Shedge, the film represents a unique case in the Bollywood landscape. Notably, Shobhinav Satyaa was initially involved in the film as an assistant director and assumed the lead role when the originally cast actor fell ill.
With Hanuman Ansh now close to crossing the ₹50 crore mark globally, industry watchers note that its journey is a case study in how cinematic successes can sometimes arise from the most unexpected circumstances. This phenomenon serves as a reminder that a strong narrative and connection with audiences can lead to substantial box office results, irrespective of a film's initial reception. The ongoing momentum suggests that its earnings may continue to grow in the coming days.
