Google Introduces Snapseed Camera for iOS with Advanced Features
Google's Snapseed camera for iOS now rolls out with pro controls, enabling enhanced photography capabilities for users.

Google has officially launched the Snapseed camera for iOS, making it a comprehensive tool for photography beyond its traditional role as an image editor. The app, which had a soft launch in December, has introduced significant updates aimed at enhancing user experience.

Previously, users could only access the Snapseed camera from a Lock Screen widget, the Control Center, or Camera Control. The latest version incorporates a camera icon located in the top-right corner of the app, streamlining access to photography features.

One of the key additions to the Snapseed camera is the option for manual adjustments for exposure and focus. Users can enable the 'PRO' mode via the newly designed toggle in the top-left corner of the viewfinder. This mode introduces three buttons that allow for individual adjustments of ISO, shutter speed, and focus, catering to those seeking a more customised photography experience. Additionally, a skeuomorphic dial has been introduced to streamline the adjustment from automatic to manual settings.

The layout of other essential functions has also been revised; the flash feature has moved to the bottom-left of the interface, while the zoom control has been placed on the opposite side, enhancing usability during photography.

Apart from custom saved looks, the Snapseed camera introduces real-time film emulation based on various styles. Google has emphasised that every photo captured through Snapseed incorporates a 'full editing stack', allowing users to modify or revert any chosen edits even after saving the photo to their gallery.

Moreover, the app allows users to personalise their viewfinder with different colour themes, including Editor, Dusk, Negative, Steel, Haze, and Depth. This flexibility caters to varying preferences and enhances the shooting experience.

The updated version, Snapseed 3.15.0, is now available for download on the App Store at no charge. Google has indicated that a similar redesigned editor will be coming to the Android version of the app, reflecting their commitment to providing advanced photography tools across platforms. The updates signify an effort to remain competitive in the photography app market, catering to both casual and professional photographers alike.
