International leaders commend Modi's leadership after he becomes India's longest-serving elected Prime Minister, highlighting his transformative impact.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received congratulatory messages from various international leaders following his achievement of becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister of India. This milestone has been recognised by leaders from Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, and Trinidad and Tobago, each acknowledging his 'transformative governance'.

In a letter, Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake conveyed the greetings of the Sri Lankan government and its citizens. He stated, 'This milestone is a testament not only to your years in office but also to the trust and confidence that the people of the world’s largest democracy have repeatedly placed in your leadership.'

James Marape, the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, expressed his admiration through a personal video message, describing Modi as a 'role model and an example of leadership'. He highlighted Modi's role in lifting more than 200 million people out of poverty, terming it 'an amazing feat'.

Kamla Persad-Bissessar, the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, also offered her congratulations, remarking that under Modi’s guidance, India has emerged as a 'leading voice on global matters'.

The statement from the Prime Minister's Office also noted that Dissanayake praised India’s significant economic and social transformation under Modi’s vision, which has inspired many beyond India’s borders, including Sri Lanka.

Additionally, the official statement recalled Modi's diplomatic engagements in the region, including his visits to Sri Lanka in April 2025, where he was awarded the 'Mitra Vibhushana', the highest civilian honour from Sri Lanka to a foreign dignitary. It also highlighted his historic visit to Papua New Guinea in May 2023, and a trip to Trinidad and Tobago in 2025.

These sentiments reflect international recognition of Modi's contribution to both domestic advancements and global discourse, marking a significant moment in his political career.
