A fatal incident at Dammam's King Fahd Airport leaves one dead and eight injured as tensions rise in the region.

One expatriate lost their life and eight others sustained injuries during an attack at King Fahd International Airport located in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday evening. The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed the casualty figures and noted that the injured individuals were swiftly transported to hospitals for medical treatment. Their injuries ranged from minor to severe.

Following the incident, GACA indicated that there was damage to airport infrastructure, though details regarding the extent of this damage are still being evaluated. Further information on the situation is expected to be released as it becomes available.

This attack is part of an escalating pattern of violence against Saudi airports. Just a day prior, Saudi air defences successfully intercepted a drone that was targeting a facility in the Shaybah oilfield, resulting in two fatalities, according to the Saudi Ministry of Energy. Earlier in October, Saudi airports faced a series of assaults, including a projectile strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that resulted in one death and eleven injuries, as well as another incident that left twelve deceased and over three hundred injured.

Amid increased tensions from ongoing Houthi attacks, the United States State Department ordered the departure of diplomats and their family members from its missions in the kingdom. This decision follows a security alert issued by the US embassy in Riyadh, warning of potential further threats from Houthi forces targeting Saudi Arabian territory.

As the situation develops, both Saudi authorities and the international community are closely monitoring further threats amidst rising regional conflict.
