Family Distressed as Four Karur Pilgrims Go Missing in Nepal
Family members of four individuals from Karur, Tamil Nadu, are in distress as they have not been able to locate their loved ones who went on a spiritual tour to Nepal. The group, comprising three women—Tamilarasi from Arunachala Nagar, Dhanalakshmi from KVB Nagar, Karpagam from Kamarajapuram East—and Anbarasu, son of Venkatachalam from North Gandhi Gram, went on the pilgrimage on August 14.
Concerns rose when family members learned that the pilgrims may have been caught in flash floods in Nepal. The families indicated that they have made numerous attempts to reach out to the missing individuals via mobile phones, but with no success. They have contacted the local collectorate, the district police, and a special centre established in Chennai, yet have not received any concrete information.
Periyasamy, husband of Karpagam, mentioned he was in communication with her until Wednesday. She informed him they were waiting for immigration clearance at the border between Nepal and China. Subsequently, he lost contact with her. In an effort to find his missing wife, he has sent people to both Delhi and the border to assist in locating her.
Anbarasu, who serves as a primary school headmaster in Puliyur Kalipalayam, had been in contact with his daughter daily. He shared his location until Wednesday when he too was waiting for immigration clearance at the same border office. After that, communication ceased, leaving his family extremely worried, prompting them to appeal for assistance from both the Central and state governments to ensure his safe return.
Efforts continue to locate the missing individuals, though details remain uncertain as families await updates on their loved ones' whereabouts amid the ongoing crisis in the region. The situation has generated a wide range of emotions, adding to the stress experienced by family members during this challenging time.
