Explosion at Bolivia Military Base Results in Multiple Casualties

At least two people have died following an explosion at a military barracks in Bolivia, with concerns that the death toll may rise. The incident occurred on Friday at approximately 14:30 local time (18:30 GMT) at an artillery regiment base in Viacha, located around 30 kilometres (19 miles) from La Paz.

Bolivian Defence Minister Ernesto Justiniano confirmed that at least 58 individuals sustained injuries during the blast, which was caused by the detonation of pyrotechnic materials stored at the barracks. Health official Rita Nebraska reported to local media that the number of fatalities could range between 10 and 15, though this figure has not been officially confirmed.
