England Completes ODI Series Clean Sweep Against Ireland

Sophia Dunkley delivered a standout performance, scoring 119 runs, which propelled England to a decisive 114-run victory in the third and final one-day international (ODI) against Ireland at New Road, Worcester.

England finished their innings at 291 runs after 48.5 overs, while Ireland could only muster 177 runs in 44.2 overs. This victory not only marked a resounding win in the match but also secured a clean sweep of the series, concluding with a 3-0 scoreline in favour of England.

Dunkley's remarkable century came off 119 balls, allowing England to set an impressive total despite a later collapse where they lost their last six wickets for just 31 runs. Initially, England appeared set for a record total after reaching 260 for 4, but their innings faltered towards the end, leaving them with seven balls unused.

The opener, Dunkley, paired with Maia Bouchier, who contributed a solid 39 runs, achieved a productive 73-run partnership for the first wicket. However, Jodi Grewcock was dismissed after scoring 35, and Alice Capsey was unfortunately run out for 10 runs. Both Freya Kemp and Dani Gibson aimed to enhance the score, but following Kemp's dismissal after scoring 23, the team's run rate suffered with multiple single-figure dismissals. Gibson did find a rhythm, ending the innings with a personal best of 41 runs.

On the bowling front for Ireland, Cara Murray was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 56 runs, demonstrating a commendable effort that helped restrict England's scoring in the latter stages of their innings. Despite England's strong batting performance, they managed only seven boundaries after Dunkley's departure in the 36th over.

Amy Hunter was the top scorer with 39, but the Irish batting line-up faltered against England's bowlers.
