Electric Two-Wheeler Sales Surge in September 2026
Electric two-wheeler sales in September 2026 reached 207,314 units, marking significant growth in the Indian market.

Following a previous examination of the electric car and overall two-wheeler sales, the electric two-wheeler segment has shown robust growth in September 2026, achieving sales of 207,314 units. This represents an increase of 88.67% year-on-year and 13.16% month-on-month compared to the 183,204 units sold in August 2026. The electric two-wheeler market's share rose to 11.6%, up from 10.7% in the previous month and significantly higher than the 8.2% recorded in September 2025. This continual rise signifies growing consumer preference for electric two-wheelers, largely due to lower running costs and environmental considerations.

TVS Motor Company led the market in September 2026 with sales of 54,037 units. This marked a substantial year-on-year increase of 125.87%, compared to 23,924 units sold in the same month last year. Month-on-month sales also rose by 10.42% from 48,938 units in August 2026, driven primarily by strong demand for its iQube and Orbiter models.

Bajaj Auto closely trailed with the sale of 48,429 units of its Chetak electric scooter, indicating a remarkable 138.87% growth year-on-year, up from 20,274 units sold in September 2025. Month-on-month comparisons also show an increase of 17.79% from 41,114 units in August 2026. The combined efforts of TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto accounted for 49.43% of the total electric two-wheeler market, collectively selling nearly 100,000 units.

Ather Energy maintained a solid position in the market with 30,533 units sold, reflecting a growth of 55.62% year-on-year from 19,620 units in September 2025. Month-on-month sales increased by 6.18% from 28,757 units in August 2026. Hero MotoCorp also exhibited significant performance, selling 24,321 units, which corresponds to an increase of 83.34% year-on-year and 97.96% month-on-month. Altogether, the leading four manufacturers—TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy, and Hero MotoCorp—comprised 74.89% of the total electric two-wheeler sales for September 2026.

Conversely, Ola Electric experienced a decline, recording 13,451 units in September, down 2.96% year-on-year and 2.89% month-on-month, suggesting a weaker performance relative to its competitors in the sector. Greaves Mobility saw a significant rise, with sales reaching 9,316 units, indicating a robust 114.06% year-on-year increase over the 4,352 units sold in September 2025, and an 8.16% increase from August 2026.

River Mobility notably contributed 5,556 units to the overall sales, achieving an impressive 193.19% growth compared to last year. BGauss almost doubled its sales with 5,023 units sold, representing a 99.01% year-on-year increase, alongside a month-on-month increase of 3.67%.

Bounce Electric's sales surged as well, with 3,069 units sold—a remarkable surge of 242.91% year-on-year and 192.56% month-on-month. E-Sprinto Green reported healthy numbers as well, with 1,997 units sold, corresponding to a 108.67% year-on-year increase. The segment of other electric two-wheeler manufacturers collectively contributed 11,582 units, showing a 39.44% increase compared to the same month last year, although there was a slight dip of 1.58% in month-on-month sales.

The data reveals a dynamic and evolving landscape for electric two-wheelers in India, increasingly becoming a competitive segment with growing consumer adoption.
