Delhi Man Arrested for Murdering Wife Amid Affair Suspicions

A 52-year-old man was apprehended near Moradabad railway station in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly stabbing his 45-year-old spouse to death with a pair of scissors at their home in Seelampur, northeast Delhi. The incident reportedly stemmed from a domestic disagreement linked to his suspicions regarding her fidelity. Police officials stated that the stabbing occurred on July 16 and that the victim was discovered with severe injuries at their residence in Gautampuri. She was rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where she was declared dead upon arrival.

The accused, identified as Saleem, reportedly fled the scene following the attack but was later located and arrested. The police received a report of the incident at approximately 7:32 pm on July 16. Upon their arrival at the residence, officers found the woman lying in a pool of blood. A case was subsequently filed at the Seelampur police station.

Following the filing of the case, police units including the crime team and the Forensic Science Laboratory examined the crime scene to gather forensic evidence. Investigators noted that Saleem was absent from the location immediately after the incident, raising suspicions about his involvement. Authorities monitored CCTV footage, analysed technical data, and cultivated information from local sources to trace his movements.

Saleem was ultimately found near the railway station in Moradabad on Saturday. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to the crime, stating that he believed his wife was having an affair with a former colleague from a garment factory, which had resulted in frequent arguments between them. Investigators noted that the couple had engaged in another dispute on the day of the murder, after which Saleem allegedly attacked her.

Following the incident, police recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the attack, as well as clothing stained with blood. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to compile further details surrounding this tragic event, which underscores the grave consequences of domestic violence fueled by jealousy and suspicion.
