Death Toll Rises in Chongqing Landslide as Recovery Efforts Continue

The confirmed death toll from a recent landslide in Chongqing, China, has risen to 11, as reported by Chinese state media. The incident, which took place on July 17, initially resulted in eight deaths, but the count has unfortunately increased as search and recovery efforts continue.

Currently, around 50 individuals remain unaccounted for, with specialised teams working tirelessly to locate those missing. The state-run Xinhua news agency has provided updates on the ongoing recovery operations, highlighting the challenges faced in the aftermath of the disaster.

In a separate report, the Delhi High Court is set to hear a public interest litigation (PIL) concerning a recent protest over an alleged examination paper leak, known as the NEET paper leak. The petition seeks an investigation by the National Investigation Agency into the events surrounding the protest held on July 20. Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia will review the matter after the case was brought to their attention by Advocate Barun Kumar Sinha.
