Choreographer Reveals Akshaye Khanna's Impromptu Dance in Fa9la
Choreographer Vijay Ganguly discusses Akshaye Khanna's spontaneous dance sequence in the viral song Fa9la from the film Dhurandhar.

The song 'Fa9la,' featuring actor Akshaye Khanna, has gained significant popularity among audiences for its engaging dance moves and catchy music. In an interview with NDTV, choreographer Vijay Ganguly revealed that the dance sequence showcasing Khanna's character was filmed in a single take and was largely spontaneous.

Choreographer Praises Akshaye Khanna's Performance

Ganguly expressed admiration for Khanna's dedication during filming, stating, "Once he's in the middle of a take, he's completely in his zone." He noted that the actor remains focused and does not stray from character, demonstrating professionalism throughout the shooting process. In the 'Fa9la' sequence, Khanna portrays Rehman Dakait, who makes a dramatic entrance from a car, joins a celebration, and showcases his dance skills before being honoured with a traditional turban.

Details of the Impromptu Dance Sequence

According to Ganguly, Khanna approached director Aditya Dhar with the idea of incorporating a dance upon entering the venue. When filming began, Khanna delivered an impromptu performance that was captured in one continuous shot. "That was one take. It was all impromptu. Everything was last-minute. We honestly never expected it to become this big," Ganguly commented.

The choreographer further reflected on the unexpected success of the song, saying, "I still can't digest that Fa9la is a hit. It's literally a scene where he enters, sits, and gets coronated. That piece has gone so viral that I'm getting calls and congratulations constantly. And that was the most effortless thing we did."

Overview of Dhurandhar

The film 'Dhurandhar' follows the story of an Indian spy named Hamza, who infiltrates a criminal gang led by Rehman Dakait in Pakistan. The narrative draws inspiration from real-life events, including significant incidents in the India-Pakistan conflict, such as the 2001 Parliament attack and the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

In addition to Akshaye Khanna, the film features a notable cast including Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun. The highly anticipated second part of 'Dhurandhar' is scheduled for release in theatres on March 19 next year.
