Chennai Super Kings' Ayush Mhatre Out of IPL 2026 Due to Injury
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has announced that Ayush Mhatre, their promising top-order batter, will not participate in the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2026 due to a left hamstring injury. The injury occurred during a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier in the week. Mhatre, who captained the Indian Under-19 team to victory at the World Cup, underwent scans on Monday, April 20, after the team arrived in Mumbai to prepare for their upcoming match against rival Mumbai Indians on April 23.
The injury adds to a series of concerns for CSK, who have faced challenges in securing consistent results this season. As confirmed by the franchise, Mhatre’s recovery and rehabilitation are expected to take between six to twelve weeks.
The absence of Mhatre is significant as he has been a key player for CSK, contributing both with the bat and in the field. His performance has been crucial in a season where the team has struggled to maintain a winning streak. The upcoming match against Mumbai Indians, one of the most awaited fixtures in the tournament, will now take place without Mhatre's participation, further testing the strengths of the CSK squad.
The team will be looking to fill the gap left by Mhatre as they aim to improve their standing in the league. Coaches and management will be evaluating their options in the coming days as they prepare for this pivotal clash in the tournament's landscape.
