Celina Jaitly Files Domestic Violence Case Against Husband
Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has initiated legal proceedings against her husband, Peter Haag, alleging severe domestic violence, emotional cruelty, and manipulation. The complaint was filed in a local court in Mumbai, where Jaitly is seeking ā¹50 crores (approximately Ā£5.1 million) as compensation for her suffering and ā¹10 lakh (around Ā£1,200) per month in maintenance for herself and their three children.
Details of the Allegations
According to her legal representation from Karanjawala & Co, Celina's marriage to Peter Haag has been fraught with prolonged emotional and physical abuse. Niharika Karanjawala Misra, a principal associate at the law firm, stated, "This is a domestic violence case. There has been a prolonged amount of emotional and physical cruelty, manipulation, and coercion in their marriage."
Celina alleges that Haag has systematically isolated her from friends and family, particularly following the deaths of her parents in 2017. She claims that during a time of personal grief, Haag coerced her into transferring ownership of her property in Mumbai to him via a gift deed, exploiting her vulnerable state.
Jaitly's relationship with Haag, an Austrian entrepreneur, has reportedly included instances of physical abuse. She revealed that she fled to Mumbai in October this year after enduring repeated threats and humiliations, including derogatory remarks about her appearance.
"He would tell her things like, āYou look like my maidā and āPeople would think I'm out walking with the helpā,ā Karanjawala stated, highlighting the psychological impact of Haag's alleged behaviour on Jaitly.
Custody and Ongoing Legal Battles
Currently, Celina's children reside with Haag in Austria, where he has filed for divorce. Jaitly's legal team is also pursuing custody of their children, who are Austrian citizens. The Austrian court has granted her one hour of daily telephonic access to her children, which her lawyer described as a significant personal victory for Jaitly.
The case was presented before the Court of SC Tadye, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Andheri, for verification and notice. The next hearing is scheduled for December 12, where Haag will have the opportunity to respond to the serious allegations.
Celina Jaitly Speaks Out
In a heartfelt social media post, Jaitly reflected on the difficult period she is navigating. She expressed her disbelief at having to fight her battles alone, stating, "In the middle of the strongest most turbulent storm of my life, I never imagined I would spend fighting alone, without any parents, without any support system."
She further elaborated through a poem on her social media, emphasising her resilience and commitment to fighting for her dignity and her childrenās love. Jaitly concluded her statement by thanking her legal team for their unwavering support during this challenging time.
