A serious accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, where a Pawan Express bus collided with a bulk carrier truck. The incident took place near Badwar Stand on National Highway-39 at approximately 5 p.m. Preliminary reports indicate that at least five individuals lost their lives and more than 20 others sustained injuries.

Following the collision, the bus veered off the road and fell into a ditch, raising concerns that slippery road conditions may have contributed to the crash. Emergency services have responded, and relief operations are currently underway to assist victims.

In the wake of the accident, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his profound sadness over the loss of life. In a statement shared on social media, the Prime Minister conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and wished for a swift recovery for the injured. Modi stated, “The news of loss of lives in the accident in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, is deeply saddening. My condolences are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

Affected individuals have been transported to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa for medical attention. Local authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.

Safety concerns on highways have been a longstanding issue in India, exacerbated by poor road conditions and high traffic volumes.
